The Tonbridge Wildcats hosted the Bognor Regis Cobras June 14th to play two games in the British Baseball Federation Division 4 South. The double-header was played at Borley Field in Tonbridge, Kent with Game 1 starting at noon.
Game1: The Wildcats won the first game thanks to two solid offensive innings–their first and final at bats–and a bend-but-don’t-break style defense. Starting sharpshooter Andy “Sharpy” Sharp sharpened his skills by allowing only one run in the first two innings, but the sharpness faded in the 3rd so Noah “No-shoes” Bradley took the mound and he completed the rest of the game. Ethan Simpson and Monty Cunliffe combined for eight stolen bases and Simpson and Gaston Farina each earned two RBIs. The final score of 10 to 8 brought the Wildcats record to 6-5.

Game2: The Wildcats and Cobras competed a close fought battle which nearly went to extra innings. Bognor raced to a 5 run lead in the first inning against starting pitcher Rob Best, and Tonbridge responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning as Monty Cunliffe stole three bases followed by Ethan Simpson stealing twice before being driven in by an RBI by Ben Wells. The Wildcats took the lead in the 2nd inning by scoring the max 5 runs, from savvy batting and base-running concluded by a 2 RBI hit by Sharpy. Shota Hamano pitched in relief after Best recorded two outs in the 3rd inning, denying any runs for the visitors in consecutive innings. The Cobras rallied in the final inning, scoring 3 runs to tie the game. The Wildcats capitalized their final at bat to get a winning run across home plate: Victor Osweiler earned a crucial walk, then Noah Bradley stole two bases as a pitch runner, and Cunliffe drove him home on a walk-off single into center field!

On Deck: the Wildcats next play 28th June at Borley Field in Tonbridge against the Brighton Aces.
