Tonbridge Wildcats vs Bracknell June 7th

The Tonbridge Wildcats hosted the Bracknell Phoenix June 7th to play two games in the British Baseball Federation Division 4 South.  The double-header was played at Borley Field in Tonbridge, Kent with Game 1 starting at 2:00pm.

Game1

The Bracknell Phoenix won Game 1 with final score of 11-3 by earning 12 hits and committing zero errors compared to just five hits and four errors for the home team. Matt Misener and Mitch De La Rosa each got two hits and Shota Hamano earned three walks. Phoenix pitcher Liam Sinclair faced all but one batter in the six inning contest, whilst Wildcats pitcher Rob Best earned another complete game. The Wildcats turned several double plays on defense to stifle the Phoenix batting, but made some crucial mistakes base running and were unlucky with five strikeouts.

Game2

In Game 2, the Wildcats turned to Andrew Sharp as the starting pitcher and jumped to a 5-2 lead after the first inning thanks to a 2-RBI hit by Shota Hamano and a fantastic bunt by Monty Cunliffe that also scored two runs aided by a fielding error. The Phoenix notched three runs in the top of the 2nd inning to tie the game, then the hosts scored one in the 3rd off the bat of Noah Bradley. Matt Misener took the pitcher’s mound in relief in the 4th inning. Bracknell scored four runs each in the 4th and 5th innings, and the Wildcats rallied in the final stanza with five runs to narrow the lead, but were unable to take the lead. Phoenix won 13-11.

The Tonbridge Wildcats next play on 14 June, at Borley Field against the Bognor Cobras.
