Wildcats vs Aces June 28th

The Tonbridge Wildcats hosted the Brighton Aces on June 28th at Borley Field in Tonbridge, Kent. The double-header featured the second and third place teams in the standings of the British Baseball Federation’s Division 4 South.

Game1

In the first game of the day the Wildcats could not find their vibe and the Aces capitalised on the hosts’ mistakes. Brighton scored several runs in every inning whilst Tonbridge mustered only one run in the first three innings from a stolen base by captain Ben Wells. Rob Best pitched the entire game for the Wildcats, and Wells and Victor Osweiler each earned two RBIs in the bottom of the 4th. The game ended due to time, with the Aces winning 18 to 6.

Game2

The Wildcats reset for the second game and found their mojo. Matt Misener started on the mound for Tonbridge, earning 4 strikeouts and allowing only 3 hits. The first two and a half innings saw only one run for each side, then the Wildcats scored 4 off of hits from Gaston Farina, Mitch De La Rosa, and Vic Osweiler. The Aces responded with one run in the top of the 4th but their rally was smothered by De La Rosa, who turned an unassisted double play at second base then caught a pop up on the next pitch. Tonbridge rang up 5 more runs in the 4th inning off of a few hits, several walks, and finally a 2 RBI hit by Andrew Sharp. The Wildcats won with a final score of 10 to 4.

On Deck: the Wildcats next play the Croydon Raiders on July 5th at Borley Field in Tonbridge.
